Police ID Woman Killed By Bus At Voorhees Town Center, Witnesses Sought

An 86-year-old Cherry Hill woman was killed after being hit by an NJ Transit bus on Tuesday.

VOORHEES TOWNSHIP, NJ — An 86-year-old Cherry Hill woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident involving an NJ Transit bus at the Voorhees Town Center Tuesday afternoon.

Dolores Earley was killed after being struck by the bus at about 1:41 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation into the accident continued Wednesday morning.

Earley was walking outside Boscov's Department Store at the time of the accident. Police and EMS attempted to save her, but she died on the scene as a result of her injuries, Voorhees police previously said.

Police are searching for witnesses and surveillance video from the scene, and New Jersey State Police are examining the bus for possible malfunctions as a matter of routine, according to Voorhees Township Police Capt. Carmen Del Palazzo. The bus driver cooperated with the investigation. There were passengers on the bus, which was headed to Turnersville from Camden.

The Voorhees Town Center, formerly known as the Echelon Mall, was built in 1970, and was initially named after Echelon Airfield. It is now a mix of retail shopping, restaurants and condominiums, and serves as the hub for municipal government in the township.
