Y.A.L.E. School Donates Electric Bicycles to Cherry Hill PD

Y.A.L.E. School, a New Jersey state-approved private special education school with campuses throughout southern New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia region, donated two electric bicycles to the Cherry Hill Police Department (CHPD). The “e-bikes” are the first for the Department’s Community Relations Unit.

Y.A.L.E. School presented the e-bikes at an event that featured remarks from Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo and Chief of Police Robert Kempf.

“The Cherry Hill Police Department has always been a terrific resource for Y.A.L.E. School, a friendly and dependable community partner. In response, we want to do our best to be a good neighbor within the community that we have called home for many years,” Chris Sarandoulias, director, Y.A.L.E. School, said of the donation.

Officers from the Community Relations Unit were on hand to test out the e-bikes and show the community policing truck to Y.A.L.E. students. The Giant Roam E+ GTS e-bikes were purchased at Erlton Bike Shop in Cherry Hill, and have been fully outfitted with police lights, courtesy of Y.A.L.E. School.

“We are proud of our relationship with Y.A.L.E. School. Over the years, we have done what we could to support the well-being of the student body, the staff, and visitors, and we will continue to do that,” said CHPD Chief Robert Kempf. “We look forward to incorporating these electric bikes into our community policing, and continuing to protect and serve all the people of Cherry Hill.”

Y.A.L.E. students also presented the CHPD and guests with t-shirts made in the Y.A.L.E. Vocational Skills Lab & Co-op. Lunch from Chick’s Deli in Cherry Hill was sent back to the Department for all officers to enjoy.

“I’m happy to see Y.A.L.E. School recognize the great work of our Cherry Hill Police Department,” said Mayor Susan Shin Angulo. “I’m so proud to that the CHPD will be able to use these electric bikes in their community policing. They will continue to protect and serve Cherry Hill proudly.”
