$3K Raised For Woman Injured In NJ Doctor's Office Shooting

An online fundraiser has been launched for a woman who was injured in a shooting at a Mount Laurel doctor's office.

RIVERSIDE, NJ — As of Monday, more than $3,000 has been raised for a Riverside woman who was struck in the knee by a bullet during a fatal shooting at a Mount Laurel doctor’s office.

Bonnie Liebe’s knee was shattered when a Burlington County Corrections Officer fatally shot an employee during an argument over his father’s appointment Friday afternoon, according to an online fundraiser.

She was taken to Cooper Hospital where she had emergency reconstructive knee surgery, according to the fundraiser. Liebe had been at the doctor’s office as a follow-up appointment to a recent extensive bladder cancer surgery. She has been out of work due to her bladder cancer, and will now be out of work longer after the shooting.

She was injured when Bruce Gomola Jr., 51 of Burlington Township, fatally shot 41-year-old Stephanie Horton over a dispute concerning Gomola's father at a Delaware Valley Urology Office, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Mount Laurel Police Chief Stephen Riedener.

Horton was a patient services representative at the office, located in the 15000 block of Midlantic Drive, and was trying to calm Gomola down when he shot her in the chest with a .40 caliber handgun, according to authorities. The bullet went through her back and struck Liebe in the knee.

Horton was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m. at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Gomola was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
