Blood Drives, Food Classes: Cinnaminson Monday Manual

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Welcome to the May 2 edition of the Cinnaminson Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up this week in and around Cinnaminson.

On Monday, two different blood drives are taking place. The first, sponsored by Burlington County, takes place at the Burlington County Human Services Building from 9:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. The second is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey and takes place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Maple Shade Municipal Complex.

Also on Monday, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cinnaminson Township Municipal Building, the Cinnaminson Township Committee meets for a work session. Among the items on the agenda are the Riverton Country Club’s fireworks display and the waiver of the formal site plan review for The Merion.

Also on Monday through May 9, the Pemberton Library Book Sale takes place. From Monday until the end of the day Wednesday, customers can buy a bag of books for $5. From Thursday until the end of the book sale, the cost of a bag of books drops to $3. All proceeds from the event will go to the Friends of the Library.

Also starting Monday until May 26, all Bordentown Library patrons aged 1 to 18 years are invited to create their “very own masterpiece” — what the library calls a work of art — about an endangered species (eg, elephants, tigers and pandas). Then, on May 27, the work will be on display in the library’s gallery.

On Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. and while supplies last, Pinelands Library invites all older adults to flex their creative muscles by picking up a 3D Barrel Cactus craft to take home and enjoy.

On Tuesday starting at 11 a.m., the Moorestown Visiting Nurses Association will conduct free blood pressure checks for older adults at the Maple Shade Library. Registration is not required.

Also on Tuesday, two different events related to preparing and making food are taking place at the Burlington County Agricultural Center. One is titled "Pop-Up Mozzarella from Scratch" and the other is called "The Secret to Cooking Grass-Fed Meat." Both events start at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, two different libraries are paying homage to the Star Wars movie series. The first event runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Riverton Library, where all Jedi Knights – sorry, kids of all ages, can make Star Wars-themed crafts and/or test their Star Wars trivia knowledge. Dressing in costume is welcome. At 6 p.m. at Pemberton Library, kids can learn how to make a holder that holds popsicles and lightsabers.

On Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cinnaminson Township Municipal Building, the Cinnaminson Township Zoning Board meets. Among the items on the agenda are bulk variance applications for properties on Arbor Road, Meetinghouse Road, Heritage Road and Route 73 North.
