Charges Filed In Death Of Teen Killed In Cinnaminson Accident

Kassidy Bush was killed when a car she was in crashed into a tractor trailer in Cinnaminson on Nov. 15.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A teenager who stole a car and crashed it into the back of a tractor trailer has been charged with the death of a girl who was killed in the accident, authorities said.

The driver, who wasn’t named because they were a juvenile at the time of the accident, has been charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree eluding and third-degree theft in the accident that killed 15-year-old Kassidy Bush on Nov. 15.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced the charges on Thursday, and said the prosecutor’s office is considering filing a petition to have the teenager tried as an adult.

The car was reportedly stolen out of Cinnaminson on Nov. 15. When police attempted to pull the car over, the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued, police said.

During the chase, the car rear-ended a tractor trailer while speeding on Route 130 in Cinnaminson at about 10:30 a.m., according to Coffina. Bush, who was a student at Palmyra High School, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was admitted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. He has since been released and is being detained in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center in Pemberton Township. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The investigation is being led by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Courtney J. O’Brien.
