Cinnaminson Girls Cross Country Team Qualifies for State Championships

The Cinnaminson High School girls country team still has a shot at the state championship.
The Pirates finished third in the South Jersey Group I sectional championship race at Delsea on Saturday, according to nj.com.
The top five teams and top 10 individuals in each group advance to Saturday’s State Championship meet at Holmdel Park.

The Pirates scored 61 points on Saturday. Haddon Township won the championship with 44 points, followed by Pitman with 51. Woodstown (121 points) and Maple Shade (134 points) also qualified for the state championships.
Cinnaminson freshman Haley Adams finished third overall in 19 minutes, 56 seconds, one second behind Pitman senior Hannah Vendetta. Haddon Township sophomore Annika Merkh won the race in 19:53.

Pirates junior Olivia Rocks (21:37) finished 11th, and freshman Mary O’Malley (21:42) finished 13th.
Freshman Madison Edwards (22 minutes flat) finished 19th, while sophomore Anne O’Malley (22:39) and sophomore Alex Kaiser (22:45) were 23rd and 24th respectively.
Senior Casey Bleistine (23:27) was 30th.

On the boys’ side, Cinnaminson sophomore Michael Ungvarsky qualified for the state meet by finishing eighth in the Group I sectional with a time of 16:47. The team finished seventh with 170 points, according to nj.com.
