Cinnaminson School Board Approves Reopening Plan With No Changes
Despite recent announcements by Gov. Phil Murphy, Cinnaminson plans to move ahead with a mix of in-person and remote learning this fall.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Despite recent changes announced by Gov. Phil Murphy as it relates to remote schooling and in-person gatherings, the Cinnaminson Public School District still plans to reopen with a mix of in-person and remote learning in the fall amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Board of Education approved the district’s Pirate Path Back plan in its current state Tuesday night, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stephen Cappello.
Many districts have been changing their plans after Gov. Phil Murphy announced that school districts may begin their academic year using a full-remote option if needed. However, Cinnaminson has decided not to pursue that option. The district's planned 100 percent remote learning plan remains in place. Two of the groups will attend school in-person two days a week and have three days of remote learning. The third group will be reserved for special populations of students, such as those who attend self-contained programs or preschoolers with disabilities.
Students will be assigned to this group based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) needs and via Child Study Team identification procedures.
Group A will consist of students whose last names begin with A-K. This group will attend school on Mondays and Thursdays.
Group B will consist of students whose last names begin with L-Z. This group will attend school on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Wednesdays will be a remote learning day for all students. By offering a hybrid option, the district is looking to reduce the population of each school by 50 percent.
The district will also offer a 100 percent remote learning option as mandated by the governor. Read more here: Cinnaminson Schools To Offer In-Person, Remote Learning This Fall
Another ruling the governor made that is impacting local school districts is his announcement that no more than 25 people are permitted at indoor gatherings. This has prompted some districts — including nearby Moorestown — to move to a half-day schedule for in-person learning.
The district will follow the NJSIAA's guidelines for high school sports, which remained in a wait-and-see mode as of this week. Read more here: NJ Decision Awaits On Resuming School Sports: Here’s Why
