The teams were playing for the second time since Saturday, when a Vincent Nogueira game in stoppage time gave the Union its first win of the year.

It was another late goal that helped the Union grab a point in the standings on Thursday.

This one came from CJ Sapong, who scored in the 86th minute off a header from Maurice Edu.

The Union trailed for most of the second half following a scoreless first half.

Mehdi Ballouchy put New York on the board first in the 58th minute from just inside the 18.

He then received a yellow card for taking off his shirt following the goal.

It was one of seven combined yellow cards and 27 fouls between the teams.

After playing twice in one week, the teams only play one more time this season, back at PPL Park on June 6.

The Union return to the field Sunday night at home against the New England Revolution, 5 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2.
