Congressman-Elect MacArthur Learns Committee Assignments

Congressman-elect Tom MacArthur has already landed two assignments that will help him advocate for voters in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District.

MacArthur has been named to the House Armed Services and Natural Resources committees, the Burlington County Times reports.

The Armed Services Committee oversees defense policies and spending. The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is located in the Third Congressional District, a fact MacArthur highlighted several times during his campaign.

The Natural Resources Committee oversees environmental issues, and the Third District includes the Pinelands, the Jersey Shore, the Pinelands and Barnegat Bay.

MacArthur, a Republican, defeated Democrat Aimee Belgard in November’s election for the seat Jon Runyan will soon be vacating.

He will be sworn in Jan. 6.
