Teacher Made Upskirt Videos Of Students At South Jersey High School: Police

A chemistry teacher in Burlington County is accused of making upskirt videos of female students in his class and the hallways of Lenape High School, authorities said.

Eric Howell, 43, of Maple Shade, was charged with two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of second-degree official misconduct and four counts of third-degree invasion of privacy.

Howell, who has been a teacher at Lenape since 2016, is accused of putting a coconut water box with a hidden camera inside it in the side portion of his briefcase. He would then unscrew the cap of the box and walk close to female students wearing skirts or loose fitting shorts in order to make videos and take pictures, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Medford Township Police Chief Richard Meder.

He was also charged with making an upskirt recording at a convenience store. At the school, he targeted three students, including one girl multiple times.

On May 2, he tried this tactic one too many times, authorities said. A person noticed Howell walking behind a student and positioning his briefcase under her skirt.

That person told the school’s administration, which then contacted police and banned Howell from school property and school events.

Police then raided his home and recovered multiple digital storage devices that are being analyzed by the Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit. He was arrested on Wednesday and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, police said. He is lodged in Burlington County Jail.

The charges will be presented to a grand jury in the near future for possible indictment. School officials have been fully cooperative with law enforcement during the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
