Tom MacArthur Captures Vacant Third District Seat
MacArthur defeated Aimee Belgard in the race for the seat being vacated by Jon Runyan.

Republican Tom MacArthur easily outdistanced Democrat Aimee Belgard in the fight to replace Republican Jon Runyan in the Third Congressional District, completing a sweep of the House of Representatives races in Ocean County.
MacArthur held a 45,310 to 27,152 votes lead over Belgard in heavily Republican Ocean County, while in Burlington County he had a 49,856-48,820 lead with an undetermined number of polling districts reporting, a lead of 84,485 to 50,848.
The race received between MacArthur, the former Mayor of Randolph, and Belgard, a Burlington County Freeholder, gained national attention.

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio and Republican running mate Mary Ann O’Brien defeated Democrats Tom Pullion and Michael Schmidt. O’Brien was elected to the Freeholder Board for the first time.

Garganio captured 54,193 votes, while O’Brien won 53,852 votes.
Schmidt had 48,398, while Pullion garnered 48,065 votes.
In uncontested races, Cinnaminson Mayor Anthony Minniti was re-elected with 3,063 votes and Committee Member William “Ben” Young was re-elected with 3,038 votes.
Jacqueline Plunkett received the most votes in the Board of Education election, at 2,190. Dennis Hassis had 2,174 votes, and Therese Garbett collected 2,173 votes. There were three open seats.
