The start of school is less than a month away and now is a great time to start preparing for the upcoming school year. For high school juniors and seniors, taking the SAT exam should soon be on their mind. The Union County College Kids and Teens program will be offering SAT prep classes beginning in September. At just a fraction of the cost of other well know test prep programs, and taught by highly-qualified instructors, many of whom are also high school teachers or have worked for other test prep companies, the courses are offered in both math and verbal/reading/writing sections. These classes are offered on Saturday mornings starting Sept. 17. Each section costs $195 so the combined class is under $400 total and includes books. These classes will prepare students in time to take the SAT in November and December. Sign up soon as class size is limited and classes can fill up.
In addition, the College offers NJ Ask preparation courses for students in grades 3 through 8. These classes are also offered on Saturday mornings. The NJ Ask exam is offered in the spring of each school year, so the fall is the ideal time to offer students additional support in either math or verbal skills. Students in these courses will become comfortable with the format of the exam which will hopefully lead to higher scores and more confidence in taking exams. The cost of each section of the course is $110.
These courses not only allow students to become familiar with the exams before the ‘real’ test but they also help a student become a confident test taker. Students will learn important test-taking strategies, which can also be applied to test taking in school.
