Clark Church Offers New Ways To Study The Bible

Osceola Presbyterian Church in Clark, NJ is offering several new small group Bible studies starting this week.

CLARK – Osceola Presbyterian Church invites you to join one of its small group Bible Studies this fall.

“These are some exciting offerings for everyone regardless of your background with scripture,” said Pastor Kathy Genus. “There studies for beginners and people who would like to dig deep and for people who want to explore how their faith impacts their daily walk. It’s going to be a great adventure.

One of the more unique Bible studies the church is offering is called The Wired Word. This offering, which focuses on current events through a Biblical lens, is offered at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings and 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. The two sessions will focus on the same material each week, allowing people to choose which time is more convenient to attend.

A recent Wired Word lesson looked at stories about a mega lottery jackpot and presented relevant scripture passages, asking students to think about the ways that the Lord and to reflect on whether an abundance of material possessions would fulfill them spiritually or bring them happiness. These groups will meet for the first time during the week of Sept. 18.

Saints & Scoundrels of the Bible is a six-week study that focuses on some of the more colorful characters and stories in scripture. Utilizing the book written by Linda Chaffee Taylor, Saints & Scoundrels will delve into a different story each week, offering a new way to approach Biblical truths. Some chapter titles include “The Trickster Trailed,” “The Perils of Paul,” “Tempting Tamar,” “A Greedy Grandmother,” and “The Deadly Dance.” This study meets on Friday mornings at 10 a.m., beginning Sept. 16.

Osceola will also offer several other Bible studies, including an introductory class at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. All Bible studies are open the members of the community.
