Clark Schools Hire New Content Area Supervisor

The Clark School Board of Education recently hired Jennifer Viti as the new Content Area Supervisor of Language Arts, Social Studies, Art and Music for Grades 6-12.

Viti received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education English. She then earned her Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University.

Viti began her career as a teacher of English and Journalism at Wallkill Valley High School. Her literary publication, The Valley Voice, was awarded the 2003 Student Publishing Award from Time Magazine as well as being honored by the New Jersey School Boards Association School through its Communications Competition award. In addition, the Sussex County School Board Association recognized Viti for her work with both the literacy magazine and the school’s newspaper.

Among her other accomplishments as a teacher, Viti was awarded a partial scholarship from the New Jersey Commission of Holocaust Education to attend a guided tour through Eastern Europe and various Holocaust cities, and was named “Inspiring Teacher of the Year” 2007 in Sussex County.

After six years of teaching, Viti assumed a position as Supervisor of Special Education and Basic Skills Instruction Teachers. In this position she supervised and evaluated special education and Basic Skills Instructional teachers using the Clinical Observation Model. She also ensured appropriate modifications were being made in all special education classrooms by an ongoing articulation with Learning Disability Teacher Consultants and School Psychologists. After a successful stint in this position, Viti was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal of Student Management at Fort Lee High School. In this capacity she managed a student population of over 1,000 pupils in Grades 9-12, creating, initiating and implanting numerous efficiencies and programs to assure a well run high school. Viti has also worked at the elementary and middle school levels, serving as interim principal of the Colonial Elementary School and as Assistant Principal of the Franklin Avenue Middle School in the Franklin Lakes School District. While there, she initiated numerous innovations and program enhancements within this high performing school district.

Viti began working in Clark, where her responsibilities cover Grades 6-12, in late October. In commenting on Viti’s employment in District, Superintendent Kenneth Knops remarked, “We’re delighted to have Jennifer Viti join our administrative team. She is a very dedicated, committed, and innovative educator who has achieved success and recognition as a classroom teacher of English and Journalism. We’re looking forward to the contributions she can bring into our instructional program and the guiding light she will provide our classroom teachers.”
