Clark Wrestling Scores Big at NJ Youth State Championships

Clark Wrestling send 7 wrestlers to NJ Youth State Championships in Trenton. Alessio Perentin, Andy Troczynski, Jake Talarico Place Winners

The New Jersey Youth Wrestling State Championship Tournament was held on March 12th -13th at Sun National Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ.  The tournament is considered the high point of NJ Youth wrestling.  Divisions are determined by age and weight with brackets including up to 24 wrestlers. Clark was well represented by 7 of its wrestlers. 

Alessio Perentin won his first State Championship in the Novice 80 lb. division.  He went 4-0 without conceding a single point with wins by Injury Default, 12-0, 4-0 and 11-0.  Alessio took 2nd place in the 75lb Bantam Division in 2015 and 7th place 70lb Bantam in 2014.  He is a fourth grader who also wrestles with club team Hammer throughout the year.  He recently won the Central Jersey Flight A 77 lb. division as well was the Outstanding Wrestler at the Meet of Champions against the North West NJ Youth Wrestling league champion.

Andrew Troczynski, seventh grader, placed 3rd overall in the Junior 105 division.  He went 4-1 winning his first two matches (FALL, 12-1) before being defeated in semi-finals to eventual 2nd place winner 5-2.  Andrew has qualified for NJ States every year since 2012, placing 2nd Bantam 75 lb. in 2012, 3rd Novice 95 lb. in 2014.  Troczynski also wrestles with club team Edge throughout the year, having represented Edge at multiple duals and individual tournaments including Tulsa Nationals recently.  Outside of wrestling he is also a star baseball player, playing on the nationally ranked NJ Chargers U12 team.

Jake Talarico, fifth grader, placed 5th overall in the Novice 55 lb. division.  Jake went 5-2 with his two losses to the same wrestler who ended up taking 3rd place.  Jake has also qualified for NJ States every year since 2012, placing 3rd Bantam 40 lbs. in 2012.  Talarico recently won the Central Jersey Flight A 57 lb. division and the North New Jersey Youth Wrestling (Silver) League 55lb. division.

Matthew Lordi, fifth grader, qualified in the Novice 55 division along with teammate Talarico.  Lordi recently won the Central Jersey Flight A 53lb division and his match at the Meet of Champions against the Northwest NJ Youth Wrestling league champion. This was Lordi’s second time competing at States.

Felix Lettini, seventh grader, qualified in the Junior 95lb. division.  Felix went 2-2 on the day.  Lettini wrestles with club Scorpions throughout the year.

Domenick Lettini, fourth grader, qualified in the Novice 85 division. This was also Lettini’s second time competing at States.

Christian Troczynski, third grader, qualified in the Bantam 70 division.  Troczynski also trains with club team Edge.  This was also his second time competing at States.

Joe Greenbush, seventh grader, qualified in the Intermediate 136 division.  This was Greenbush’s first appearance at NJ States.

 All of Clark’s wrestlers have worked hard, have extreme determination and strength.  Congratulations to all Clark Wrestlers!
