FREE Seminar at Clark Public Library: College Financial Aid: Get Your Fair Share

The Clark Public Library is hosting a FREE seminar, College Financial Aid: Getting your Fair Share, on Monday, December 7 at 7 PM.

Applying to college is an exciting and emotional journey for you and your student. Figuring out how to pay for it can be a very stressful, time consuming process. Once college applications are finalized and mailed, the next step that many parents are unaware of and unprepared to do is completing and filing the federal financial aid forms including FAFSA, CSS Profile, and other school forms. But failure to file these forms, or doing so incorrectly or at the wrong time, can have a significant impact on how much you ultimately end up paying out of pocket for college.

At this free, informative library workshop, Marie Mayer, Certified College Financial Aid Advisor, will demystify the new FSA ID registration process and completing the complicated FAFSA form and CSS Profile, and will explain how your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is calculated. She will also cover:

• Early planning strategies that maximize aid
• How income and assets affect aid eligibility
• Financial aid types and packages
• Impact of parent vs. student assets on eligibility
• Comparing school award letters
• Maximizing scholarship opportunities

This casual and informative workshop will provide families with the tools and knowledge necessary to receive their fair share of available federal and school financial aid. Questions are always welcome. Over the past 10 years Marie has helped hundreds of parents apply for and receive the maximum college financial aid.
