May 27 2020

As part of gaining "It's Your World - Change it" journey badge, Garwood Daisy Troop 41108 planted in the flower pots around town. In an effort to keep social distancing, the girls planted 13 out of the 27 flower pots. We chose to plant marigolds, which is the first petal the girls earned as a Daisy.

The meaning of the Marigold petal is to be responsible for what I say and do. The girls will be responsible for watering their flower pots as part of earning their journey badge.

Garwood Council President and Green team Liaison Jen Blumenstock said, “The Garwood Green Team was contacted by the Daisy Troop wanting to help us out by planting the flower pots with us. I love to see joint-team efforts by the groups in our little Borough! It really brings us all together, especially in times like these. I’d like to give a big thank you to the Troop for making Garwood such a beautiful place.”

In addition to planting flowers, Principal day was Friday, May 1st and with the extra flower buds, we were able to plant Garwood's Principal Emmons a flowers pot to put on her front steps.

Troop Leader Vanessa Schubring said "She hopes to keep this tradition going forward especially since it is around Mother's Day, it was a great mom/daughter event for all the girl scouts."
