Garwood Primary Election Profile: Anthony Goodell
Anthony Goodell shares why he is running for Garwood Borough Council in 2020.
GARWOOD, NJ — Garwood's preliminary election on July 7 has six candidates running for two open three-year seats on the Borough Council. Anthony Goodell, 42, is one of four Republican candidates running.
Goodell has worked as a Field Superintendent for Barr & Barr for the past 20 years. He is married to his wife, Jenny, and has a son and daughter.
He graduated from Union Catholic High School.

Anthony wishes to join borough council where he believes he can utilize is expertise in the building industry and give back to the community he’s lived in his entire life.
The single most pressing issue facing our community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The borough is under going tremendous change with two major developments going up in addition to ongoing infrastructure changes. I intend to offer my expertise in the building industry to help navigate our town through this change, always with the best interest of our citizens in mind.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Critical differences between myself and the other candidates are first and foremost my ability to work with all people. If elected I will join a council with a overwhelming Democratic majority and my ability to work in a bipartisan manner will allow me to do what’s best for all my constituents. Secondly I'm a lifelong resident of Garwood and I’m now raising my two children here. Lastly I'm involved in my community all year long not just when it's campaign season. I do not support unrealistic platforms that would otherwise defund our police and first responders.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My profession as Superintendent for Barr & Barr where I make critical decisions on a daily basis in regards to safety and those Involving financial cost analysis breakdowns. In addition being a boys Basketball Coach for my High school Alma Mater Union Catholic. I understand what it takes to work as a team and succeed.
