Mother Seton Regional High School Students Take Home First and Second Place Trophies at State Foreign Language Competition
Students from Mother Seton compete and win at the 33rd Annual State Foreign Language Poetry Recitation Contest.
Fifteen students from Mother Seton Regional High School, Clark, competed at the 33rd annual state foreign language competition at William Paterson University.
Over 60 schools and nearly 1,000 students from the state of New Jersey competed in the event. A special recognition goes to Senior, Noni Tinglin-Jarrett, for achieving first place in Advanced Spanish. She received a trophy from William Paterson University. Freshman, Hanna Campiglia, won first place in Beginner Italian and also received a trophy from the University. Sophomore, Katherine Blum achieved second place in Intermediate Latin and received a medal at the competition event. Freshman, Victoria Silverman captured the second place medal in Beginner Latin, and Freshman, Linyi Li received the second place medal in Native Chinese.
The following students were selected by their world language teachers Maria Vazquez, Maria Buontempo, and Karla Giron to compete in the following categories and are each receiving a certificate of participation and merit issued by the World Languages Department at William Paterson University.

“We are so proud of how well these students performed at this highly competitive event,” says Karla Giron, teacher of Spanish and ESL, “and we can’t wait to bring more students to next year’s event.” Mother Seton has attended this competition for the last 16 years.
