Police Step Up Enforcement On Rt. 27 After Death, Serious Crashes
Since June, 1 person has died and multiple people have been seriously injured following crashes along the Route 27 corridor in Union County.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Multiple police departments are stepping up enforcement after one people was killed and multiple serious crashes were reported in the past three months along the Route 27 corridor in Union County.
"The Route 27 corridor has been plagued by a number of serious car crashes over the past several months. To combat this growing problem, Officers from Linden Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle, and Union County will jointly focus our enforcement efforts along St. George Avenue and Rahway Avenue next week," Linden Police announced.
Since June, one person has died and multiple people have been seriously injured following crashes on the highway:

- Rebecca O'Reilly, 59, of Woodbridge was killed in a head-on collision on St. George's Avenue in Rahway on June 26. (See Related: Woodbridge Woman Killed In Rahway Crash Tuesday)
- A 58-year-old Elizabeth motorcyclist was seriously injured after he was hit by a a 2013 Dodge Charger on E. St. George Avenue on July 12. (See Related: Elizabeth Man ID'd As Motorcyclist In Linden Crash)
- A 51-year-old Elizabeth pedestrian was hospitalized after she was hit by a 2014 Range Rover, driven by a 51-year-old man from Fort Lee, lost control on the 1600 block of E. Due to the multiple crashes along this corridor, police enforcement will be stepped up from Sept. 24 to 27.
