Meet the Panthers: Varsity Softball Outfield

Collingswood High School's softball team finds itself with a 4-7 record. Before the Panthers took to the road for their Friday matchup at Haddonfield Memorial, Collingswood Patch Sports Editor Mathew P. Shanley had a chance to sit down and talk to four members of the varsity team's outfield. Now, it’s your turn to learn a little bit more about some of the athletes behind Panthers softball.

Q: What’s your favorite professional sports team?

• Senior Liz Herrera, No. 12, utility player/right field: The L.A. Dodgers
• Senior Marie Fowler, No. 00, left field: The Phillies
• Junior Nicole Hall, No. 7, centerfield: The Phillies

Q: Do you play any other sports for Collingswood?

• Herrera: No. I only play softball
• Fowler: No.
• Hall: Field hockey. I'm a 2011 team captain!

Q: What’s your favorite food?

• Herrera: Mashed potatoes
• Fowler: Tacos
• Hall: Quesadillas

Q: Who is your favorite athlete?

• Herrera: N/A
• Fowler: Shane Victorino; centerfield, Philadelphia Phillies
• Hall: Roy Halladay; pitcher, Philadelphia Phillies

Q: What’s your favorite movie?

• Herrera: The Lion King
• Fowler: Elf
• Hall: Aladdin. I love princess movies!

Q: How long have you been playing softball?

• Herrera: I've been playing since T-ball.
• Fowler: 10 years.
• Hall: I've been playing for 12 years. I've played for my dad all 12 years!

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of Collingswood High School?

• Herrera: I like the way the teachers interact with their students. My teachers respect me but are still able to keep a professional attitude.
• Fowler: I like that the school has good sports programs.
• Hall: I love all of my classes and definitely the sports. I love Mr. Roos, too. I'll miss him!
