Cranford Man Arrested For Cocaine, Heroin
A total of five people were arrested on charges including drug possession and driving while intoxicated in Cranford, police report.

CRANFORD, NJ — A total of five people were arrested on charges including drug possession and driving while intoxicated in Cranford, police report.
Cranford Police Blotter:
On Jan. 16 at 11:54 a.m.: A 1995 Oldsmobile was stopped near the intersection of Raritan Road and Mohawk Drive for failure to maintain their lane. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici located suspected crack-cocaine and heroin inside the vehicle. Kenneth Meier, 25, Cranford was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia, processed and released pending a superior court appearance. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for an unsafe lane change and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 16 at 7:54 p.m.: A 1999 Buick was stopped at the intersection of South Avenue East and Centennial Avenue for a headlight out. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Lynne Galvez located hypodermic syringes and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A passenger, James Vanorden III, 27, of Woodbridge was arrested for possession of paraphernalia; possession of a hypodermic syringe; and hindering apprehension and later determined to have an outstanding criminal warrant from Newark Municipal Court. Vanorden III was processed and given a municipal court appearance date. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for maintenance of lamps.
On Jan. 17 at 11:19 p.m.: A 2012 Volkswagen was stopped at the intersection of North Avenue East and the Garden State Parkway 137 Exchange for tinted windows violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Timothy Handy arrested the driver, Mark Hudson, 29, of Maplewood for suspected marijuana located inside the car. He was charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams); possession of paraphernalia; obstructing the administration of law; and resisting arrest. Once processed, he was released pending a municipal court appearance. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for tinted windows, no valid insurance card, an expired vehicle inspection and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 19 at 5:04 p.m.: A 1997 Toyota was stopped on Raritan Road and Moen Avenue for careless driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Daniel Norton arrested the driver, Nikolaos Zervos, 54, of Linden for driving while intoxicated. In addition, he was also issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving and unsafe tires. Nikolaos Zervos was released pending a municipal court appearance.
On Jan. 22 at 10:03 p.m.: A 2015 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for failure to observe a red traffic signal. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jason D’Agostino located prescription legend drugs and paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver, Tony Junior Marques, 25, of Cliffwood Beach was arrested for possession of a prescription legend drug; possession of paraphernalia; and driving while intoxicated, processed and released pending a municipal court appearance. Additionally, the driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, a vehicle inspection violation, unclear plates and no valid insurance card in his possession.
