Cranford Police Arrest 6 For Heroin, Marijuana Possession

Cranford Police arrested 6 people for drug possession, including marijuana and heroin, recently.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested six people for drug possession including marijuana and heroin recently.

On Feb. 7 at 12:38 p.m.: The Cranford Police Department responded to the Dollar General Store on a reported shoplifting. Earl Ayler, 61, of Rahway was subsequently arrested and charged by Sgt. Frank Williams with shoplifting, hindering apprehension and resisting arrest. After he was processed it was determined that he had an active warrant out of Essex County. Earl Ayler was turned over to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department and provided with a pending municipal court appearance.

On Feb. 9 at 12:45 a.m.: A 2002 Ford was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue near Wall Street for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael O’Neil arrested the driver, Osaheni Omokaro, 20, of Hillside for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. He was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Additionally, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for a seatbelt violation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Osaheni Omokaro was released pending a superior court appearance.

On Feb. 9 at 3:19 p.m.: A 2006 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue near Raritan Road for a brake light out. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Christopher Gross arrested the driver, Marjorie Hill, 30, of Plainfield and a passenger, Edwin Saint-Louis, 33, of Iselin for suspected marijuana found inside the vehicle. They were charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of paraphernalia. Additionally, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, a view obstruction, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Both parties were released pending a municipal court appearance.

On Feb. 11 at 9:47 a.m.: A 2006 GMC was stopped on Centennial Avenue near Hayes Street for erratic driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Gregory Federici arrested the driver, Shawn Taggart, 31, of Linden for possession of suspected heroin. Taggert was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia processed and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Additionally, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, failure to maintain his lane, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Feb. 11 at 3:40 p.m.: A 1997 Honda was stopped on North Avenue East at the Garden State Parkway 137 exchange for a seat belt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Robert Jordan, arrested a passenger, Weldermar Cedeno, 45, of Trenton for suspected marijuana found inside the car. Cedeno was also charged with hindering apprehension when he provided the police with false information. A second passenger in the vehicle, Heather Lobello, 36, of Hamilton was arrested for possession of suspected heroin and paraphernalia. Both individuals were processed and provided with pending court appearances. A third passenger, William Gonzalez, 40, of Trenton was arrested for having an active warrant out of Mercer County. He was turned over to the Mercer County Sherriff’s Department. Additionally, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for not having a driver’s side-view mirror and violating the passenger restriction of her provisional license.
