Car Drives Through NJ High School’s Wall, Injuring Student
Before hitting the building the car was seen "driving erratically" and ran a red light, police said.
ELIZABETH, NJ — A student at Elizabeth High School suffered a leg injury after a car slammed into the Dwyer auditorium on Monday morning, according to City of Elizabeth spokesperson Ruby Contreras.
At around 8 a.m., a driver was seen moving "erratically" along Bridge Street toward Pearl Street and went through a red light, police said. The car then went over a curb and sidewalk before it hit the outside wall of the auditorium.
One student who was inside at the time reported a minor leg injury and is being taken to Beth Israel Hospital as a precaution.

The driver was taken to University Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, officials said.

The cause of the crash is still under review. Patch has also reached out to confirm any impacts to school operations and is yet to hear back.
