The First Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth, NJ, welcomes back Mezzo Soprano artist, Kathryn Krasovec, and Soprano Maureen Francis as they sing a program that includes Opera, Art Song and Musical Theater, acompanied by Pianist Kathryn Olander.
Mezzo-soprano, Kathryn Krasovec: Her career spans Europe, North America and the Middle East. She was a winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council. Her portrayal of Anne Frank in the Staatsoper Prague premiere of Frid's Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank launched her European career along with the title role in Janá ček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and the British Dancing Girl in John Adams’ The Death of Klinghoffer at the National Theater of Prague and Bremer Theater. As a former three-season member of Das Theater Trier in Germany which led to many roles debuts, she has sung Siebel (Faust), Zerlina in (Don Giovanni), Cherubino in (Le nozze di Figaro), Carmen in the Peter Brook Carmen, Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) and Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte). Ms Krasovec was a member of The Juilliard Opera Center and The San Francisco Opera Merola Program.
Soprano, Maureen Francis: She has gained attention not only with a voice that has a warm and silvery timbre, but the presence in scenes to garner acting awards. "Her petite size conceals a rich and amazingly flexible voice: she definitely resembles a Broadway star... She actually looks and sounds like the role Verdi created." The 2012/2013 Season includes her debut in the role of Frasquita with The Westfield Symphony, in New Jersey and a return to Fresno Grand Opera as Cunegunde in Candide in May. She will also perform the Bach Magnificat in Philadelphia with The Choristers of Upper Dublin. Recent seasons found Ms.Francis in Mumbai, India with Bergen Opera for the Indian premiere of Andrew Lloyd Weber's Requiem. She made her debut with Fresno Grand Opera as Mabel in their production of The Pirates of Penzance. Concerts include Le Fantome de l'opera with The Westfield Symphony, Dvorak's Stabat Mater with the The Choristers in Philadelphia and Mendelssohn's Elijah with The Fairfax Choral Society in Virginia. Last season concluded with her debut at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center with Distinguished Concerts International New York's performance of Faure's Requiem and World Premiere of Vijay Singh's Mass, Op.1. Ms. Francis returned to Omaha Opera as Susanna in their production of Le Nozze di Figaro and performed the Bach Magnificat with New Jersey's Pro Arte Chorale, Bach's B Minor Mass with the Upper Dublin Choristers and Carmina Burana with the Fairfax Choral Society. Ms. Francis made her debut as Mabel in Opera Omaha's The Pirates of Penzance and Musetta in Chattanooga Symphony and Opera production of La Boheme.
Recent roles include Oscar in Un ballo in maschera with Bergen Opera in Bergen, Norway and Gretel with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, her debut with Los Angeles Opera and the Lincoln Center Festival in the world premier of Elliot Goldenthal’s opera Grendel singing the role of Dragonette, directed by Julie Taymor. She has peformed Gilda in Chattanooga Symphony and Opera’s production of Rigoletto, Julie Jordan in Carousel with Shreveport Opera, LA, and Rosina, her signature role, which became the vehicle for her European debut at the Festival Lecco near Milano, Italy. Described by the Washington Times as: “endearing with a sweet, silvery voice to match, her innate goodness proved impossible to resist”, she performed the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon with Summer Opera (DC) in which she was awarded the best singer in the leading female category by OperaOnline.com.

Recent concerts include Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in Philadelphia, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and Coronation Mass at Carnegie Hall, Händel’s Messiah in her debut at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and Handel Choir of Baltimore, singing the Princess in Händel’s Hercules.
