The laughter is non-stop as what is supposed to be a 10th anniversary celebration for New York's Deputy Mayor, Charley Brock and his wife Myra rapidly declines into an evening of disaster. The first guests arrive hear a gunshot, then discover Myra missing and Charley incoherent and barely conscious. Fearing the political consequences if Charley's condition is made public, they scramble to cover-up the incident. As the other guests arrive, and the secret leaks out, speculation and rumors abound.
