Digiplex Destinations, a new and fast growing chain of digital cinema theaters, has announced the latest in its series of cultural events as its theaters in Cranford, N.J., and Bloomfield, Conn. Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance, on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
The documentary focuses on Chicago's Joffrey Ballet, a groundbreaking dance company which fused traditional ballet with elements of modern dance and modern music to revolutionize the art form. The film features rare excerpts from many seminal Joffrey works including Astarte, Trinity and Billboards, and is narrated by Tony(R) and Emmy(R) Award winner Mandy Patinkin.
The event will include a special Q&A session following the film featuring talent from the Joffrey Ballet that is simulcast live to the theaters. Theatergoers will have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions in real time via Twitter. This event marks the first time a film has simulcast its world premiere outside of a major festival, according to A. Dale "Bud" Mayo, Digiplex Destinations chairman/CEO.

"Patrons sitting in theaters all over the world where the simulcast is broadcast can now Tweet their questions instantly and if selected, hear the answers from their favorite ballet stars live on the big screen," said Mayo who himself Tweets regularly at @budmayo.
"We think that's pretty cool and believe theatergoers will see more of this type of interactive feedback as more and more theaters adopt digital cinema."
