Jersey Central Art Studios will offer two classes in one this fall season at the Cranford Community Center beginning October 20, 2011 - December 1, 2011 from 7:00pm-9:30pm and last six weeks.
The evening oil painting/drawing class will be conducted by Paul Casale www.casalefineart.com. Paul received his BFA from Pratt Institute, continuing his studies at Brooklyn College, and the Art Students League. His teaching experience includes DuCret Art School, Somerset Art Association and the High School Of Art and Design.
This class is designed as an introduction to traditional oil painting and drawing for both the beginner and intermediate student. Working from still life arrangements and a posed model, students will learn fundamental painting and drawing techniques. Topics covered will include arrangement of colors on palette, blocking in the composition, developing a painting in monochrome, building form through use of light and shadow, color mixing, paint application, brushwork and knowledge of care of materials and equipment. Each new skill will be demonstrated by the instructor and students will be given one on one instruction.
The drawing section of class is designed to help the student accurately observe the visual properties of form and space and will cover the use line, how to block in shapes,
judge proportions and create form. “This is the perfect class for one to learn drawing and painting and to observe the work of other students.” said Deb Leber president,
JCAS.
