
College Women's Club of Cranford invites the community to a free presentation and exhibit on "The Life and Transformation of the Great American Newspaper". Former journalist, Terry Golway, and director of Kean Center for American History will the guest speaker. Mr. Golway is the author of several books including "The Irish in America", which was the companion book to the 1998 PBS series of the same name, as well as "Irish Rebel,", a biography of Irish journalist John Devoy. Mr. Golway is also the author of "For the Cause of Liberty,", a history of Irish nationalism and "Let Every Nation Know,", a study of John F. Kennedy's speeches. He is a former member of the New York Times editorial board and former city editor of the New York Observer. He writes regularly for the Irish Echo and the Star Ledger.
In addition, there will be a special traveling exhibit featuring reproductions of historical newspapers from the Liberty Hall Museum and Kean University The exhibit is from the Museum's collection and consists of three landscape panels, 30 x 40, which features images of newspaper headlines reporting the end of three wars, the assassination of three presidents, the moon landing of 1969, and other historic events.
