Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 90’s when Shawn Colvin invited Gilbert to be a special guest on her 1992 Fat City Tour after hearing word of Gilbert “knocking them dead” at open mic nights. Gilbert took audiences across North America by storm. "With the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god, it was enough to earn him that rarity: an encore for an opener" wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in its review of a show from that tour. Ten accomplished albums later, Gilbert continues to refine his unlikely union of humor, virtuosity and the unexpected. Whether with classic, original songwriting or ageless interpretations of covers, his presentation steeped is in deep humanism and bravery, stunning artistry, soul and contagious unbridled joy. This tour celebrates the release of his 10th album, Old White Men.
This production is part of the “Music on Main Street” Concert Series. “Music on Main Street” was founded in 2009 and presents high caliber professional touring artists across diverse genres. From emerging artists to renowned rock and roll hall of famers such as Roger McGuinn, Dave Mason and Nils Lofgren, you’ll hear amazing talent in the intimate United Methodist Church or at the Barron Arts Center.
