The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite you to this presentation of absolutely non-essential history. What were Robert E. Lee's last words? Why was Stonewall Jackson called Stonewall? Why is it bad luck to whistle on a Broadway stage? Why is our football team called the Giants? What does the "hono" in Honolulu mean? Where did Thomas Jefferson write the Declaration of Independence? Why was the term "cowboy" considered a racial slur? Who were the six Marines who raised the flag at Iwo Jima? You will learn all this and more in a fast-paced, non-stop hour of non-essential (but very entertaining) history! The program will be presented by Dr. James P. Kane. Dr. Kane, a former prep school headmaster, principal and superintendant of schools, is currently an adjunct professor of education at William Paterson University.
