Student Production of "The Runner Stumbles" UCC

On April 20 and 21, 2012, Union County College’s Owl Theater will present, “The Runner Stumbles” by Milan Stitt. Performances will be held at 7:30 pm each evening in the Roy Smith Theater at the College’s Cranford campus.  The play is based on a real incident in 1911 in the backwoods of Michigan.  A priest is charged with the murder of a nun.  It is, in part, a whodunit, courtroom drama, religious debate, and a challenge to obedience.

The entire cast and production team are comprised of students from the College, including, Chris Brennan, Stefeny Medina, Walter Scheuerman, Angela Basso, Melita Richarsdson, and Mark Zebro, Jr.  The stage managers are Union students Ben Jacobson and Alonso Mejia.  The play is directed by Union County College Professor Michael Z Murphy, of the English/Fine Arts/Modern Languages Department.  The producer is Rebecca May, Manager of College Life.  The students have been rehearsing since the beginning of February.  All of them have been involved in performing arts.  Some have also been involved in stage productions before coming to Union.

Tickets are $5 per person and will be available at the door. The College’s Cranford campus is located at 1033 Springfield Avenue. For direction or more information on Union County College, please visit www.ucc.edu.  All are welcome.
