Orange Avenue School Students Will Travel 'Up The Down Staircase'
OAS will present a play based on a best-selling novel, beginning Oct. 18.
Based on the best-selling novel, "Up the Down Staircase" focuses on an idealistic young teacher working in a dysfunctional inner-city school. Should she stay and try to make a difference, or leave for a cushy job in the suburbs?
Laugh, cry and get inspired by the talented Orange Avenue School students
under the passionate direction of Nevil Schwartz, as they perform this award-winning play this fall.
Performances are Oct. 19 at 8 p.m., Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. In addition, there will be a free performance for senior citizens on Oct. 18 at 4:30 p.m. All performances will be held in the Orange Avenue School auditorium, at 901 Orange Ave. in Cranford. Tickets are $7 each, and can be purchased at the door, or by contacting oasupthedownstaircase@gmail.com
Cranford has an artistic community, and many students from Orange Avenue School have gone on to professional careers in stage and screen.
