Cranford MLK Event Seeks Volunteers of All Ages To Help Homeless
A local church has invited volunteers of all ages to help assemble packages for homeless youth, vets, and more at their annual service fair.
CRANFORD, NJ — Martin Luther King Day has been designated a national day of service, and several local towns have events to help create supply kits for the homeless and needy. For instance, a group in Westfield will package kits for homeless residents throughout the area (click "Westfield" for more info). And for the seventh year in a row, First Presbyterian Church of Cranford has invited community members of all ages to participate in their service fair to assist with assembling packages and other projects for homeless youth, the elderly, and veterans.
The Cranford fair will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday at “Bates Hall” (the large gym) on the corner of Springfield Avenue and Miln Street.
The event's organizers note, "This is a great event for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, confirmation service hours, and anyone who wants to make the day count by brightening the lives of people in need. This is a non-sectarian community event. Come and make the day count!"
