What Cranford Residents Should Know About This Week's Heat Advisory

Residents are being urged to take precautions as hot and humid conditions move into the area.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford residents may want to keep the air conditioning running and limit time outdoors later this week.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for Union County and much of North Jersey from noon Thursday through 8 p.m. Thursday, with heat index values expected to reach as high as 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The combination of high temperatures and humidity could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults, young children, and people with chronic health conditions.

Anyone who must work or spend extended time outdoors should take frequent breaks in the shade or in air-conditioned areas.

Forecasters noted that the advisory could be extended into Friday, though that remains uncertain as weather conditions continue to be monitored.

For now, residents should prepare for what could be the hottest stretch of weather so far this week.
