12 Quarantine After COVID Case in East Brunswick School District
Students and staff from Bowne Elementary School and Central Elementary School have been asked to quarantine.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – A staff member from East Brunswick School District tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in 12 people quarantining as 'close contacts'. School Superintendent Victor Valeski informed the school community on Tuesday.
The staff member belongs to the district’s Community Programs.
Valeski said they identified eight students and four staff members as close contacts, and they belong to Bowne Elementary School and Central Elementary School. The staff who tested positive for COVID-19, worked in both schools last week.

“Through contact tracing, we confirmed that all exposures were outside of our school environment and immediate quarantining has allowed us to continue school operations,” Valeski said.
He said the current situation with COVID cases in the school district might affect his decision on how to proceed for the remainder of 2020.
“I will be evaluating exposure trends after students and staff return next week. That analysis will guide my decisions affecting school operations for the remainder of 2020,” he said.
