2 Cannabis Manufacturing Businesses Approved In South River

The borough already has another cannabis cultivation unit which was approved by officials last year.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick may have prohibited marijuana manufacturing businesses in town, but the township’s neighbors have no such qualms.

The South River Zoning Board recently approved two marijuana manufacturing and processing units in the township.

The first application was from Tara Sargente, owner of Blazing Bakery, the first large woman-owned edible company in the garden state.

Sargente’s application was for opening a manufacturing unit at 141–143 Russell Avenue.

The second application was from Cedar Fairmont Health Cultivators who were seeking to operate a manufacturing facility on the same site.

The borough already has another cannabis cultivation unit, Noble 1 LLC, which was approved by officials last year.

While East Brunswick prohibits all forms of recreational marijuana sale, use, growth, and manufacturing for now, the township ordinance does allow for conditional use for "alternative treatment center" or medical marijuana dispensaries. More: East Brunswick Ordinance Prohibits Cannabis Businesses
