2 East Brunswick Students Named Governor’s STEM Scholars

Ella Joasil and Prasiddha Sudhakar are among 95 students to complete the program, which provides a whole view of the state's STEM economy.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two East Brunswick residents, Ella Joasil and Prasiddha Sudhakar,have been named among the Governor’s STEM Scholars — a program of the Research & Development Council of New Jersey.

Joasil and Sudhakar are among 95 New Jersey high school and college students to complete the year-long program, which provides a complete view of New Jersey’s STEM economy.

Joasil is a Sophomore at East Brunswick High School and Sudhakar is a Senior at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

They will graduate on Saturday. “This weekend, the Governor’s STEM Scholars will be graduating 95 of New Jersey’s most promising STEM students,” Alise Roderer, Director of the Governor’s STEM Scholars said in a statement.

“As Governor’s STEM Scholars, Ella Joasil and Prasiddha Sudhakar received a comprehensive introduction to New Jersey’s STEM economy, highlighting some of the most innovative and exciting STEM organizations in the state through conferences, field trips, internship opportunities, and a research project.”

A public-private partnership among the Research & Development Council of New Jersey, the Governor’s Office, New Jersey Department of Education, Secretary of Higher Education, and public and private research companies, the program provides high school, college, and graduate students with a comprehensive introduction to the state’s STEM economy.

Throughout the academic year, Joasil and Sudhakar participated in four conferences highlighting New Jersey’s STEM opportunities in government, academia, industry, and the upcoming commencement.

Each Scholar was led by a college-level team leader, mentored by professional STEM advisors, and produced a viable research project, Roderer said.

Graduates also have access to the alumni network of nearly 600 students, which will enable them to stay connected to STEM jobs and opportunities within the state.
