America's 'Weirdest' Doctor's Office Is In New Jersey (Video)

It's the only doctor's office where you'll find the grinning face of an Asian deity, mannequins and a live man in a Buddha head standing.

Those who have been there say it may be just the weirdest doctor's office in America, and it's right here in New Jersey.

This is the world of Dr. Mark Leitman, an ophthalmologist in East Brunswick who has you walk through a parade of colorful clutter before you sit down and have your eyes checked. Or as one publication put it: more of a "Mardi Gras novelty factory explosion than an ophthalmologist’s office."

Weird NJ magazine and The Asbury Park Press recently featured him, giving the treasure map experience of his office. Among the things you'll find there are:

• A "kaleidoscopic wonderland of color and sound."
• "Stuff everywhere, tacked up to walls, taped onto windows and hanging from ceiling tiles."
• A "seemingly randomly arranged display of brightly colored trinkets, toys and paraphernalia festooned every inch of every surface in sight."
• Glistening crystals and gemstones on shelves in glass display cases or scattered out in the open on tabletops.
• Inspirational messages scrawled in day-glo paint across the walls, ceiling and even the floor.
• Seashells, dolls, bobbles and beads, 45-RPM records, vintage board games and clowns. "Everywhere I looked, another clown," according to Weird NJ. "There were jaunty jesters, happy harlequins, melancholy mimes – so…many…clowns."

Leitman is a collector, but he's also considered one of the top ophthalmologists in the state. Here are a couple videos that talk about his practice and his office:
