Citizen Police Academy To Be Held In East Brunswick

The Citizen Police Academy is open to East Brunswick residents and business owners 18 years or older.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy beginning Sept. 23 to Oct. 28, the department announced Monday.

Five sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the East Brunswick Police Training Facility at 23 Harts Lane. One session will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Hammarskjold Middle School, 200 Rues Lane.

The Citizen Police Academy is open to East Brunswick residents and business owners 18 years or older. There will be demonstrations and activities conducted by members of the Police department, including information on crime prevention, neighborhood watch groups, gun safety, terrorism, crime scene investigation, computer crimes, and more. There will also be demonstrations by East Brunswick’s SWAT team and Motorcycle Officers.

At the Citizens Police Academy participants will learn about the inner workings of the local police department and gain a better understanding of the profession and how to help police keep the community safe.

The number of seats for the academy is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will have to submit to a background check and pass it before attending the academy.
