East Brunswick Athletes Quarantine After Close Contact With COVID

None of the students have so far tested positive for COVID, said the school district.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A few student-athletes from East Brunswick school district were asked to quarantine after they came in “close contact” with a player who tested positive for COVID-19.

School Superintendent Victor Valeski said that members of the district’s varsity team were in “close contact” with an opposing player on Tuesday last week. After the game, the player began feeling symptomatic and tested positive for COVID on Saturday.

None of the students have so far tested positive, said Valeski.

The district did not identify the team asked to quarantine.

“Understandably, I have intentionally avoided identifying the team affected to protect identification of the athletes in quarantine. All individuals directly impacted by this event have been personally contacted,” said Valeski.
