East Brunswick BOE Member Seeks To Bring Change To Voting Policy
Mark Csizmar suggested changing the way the BOE votes for a new member.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Ever since Tim Cummings was voted in to temporarily fill the seat left vacant by a Board member, there has been much debate about the voting policy.
During the last Board of Education meeting, Mark Csizmar said he was going to bring a new policy to change the way the BOE votes for a new member.
Although Csizmar said his move had nothing to do with Cummings, he noted previously mentioned how the policy was “flawed.”

While voting between Cummings and Dhar Khona, Csizmar said he had an issue with the bylaw as it did not permit him to cast his vote for Khona, after Cummings reached a majority vote.
“In my opinion, the bylaw is flawed. I think that both individuals that put all this time should hear that they had support from the board,” Csizmar had said during the time.

During the last BOE meeting, he reiterated that the policy was flawed.
“Being head of the policy committee, I am going to bring a new policy to the committee for review. The policies are flawed in its face, and I don't think anybody did it on purpose,” Csizmar said.
He also noted that the current policy does not outline how to narrow down the candidate field.
“In fact, the only language in the policy says there shall be no decisions made in an executive session,” Csizmar said. “So taking a field of six, seven, or their work, and narrowing it down to two should probably be made in the public, but we need to change the policy.”
Csizmar said he would work on the new policy and bring it to the full committee for review.
