East Brunswick High School Swim Team Honored By Council

The team finished its season with a record of seven wins and two losses.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick High School Boys Swim Team recently received a Proclamation from Mayor Brad Cohen and the Council for their accomplishments during the 2021-2022 season.

Councilwoman Dana Zimbicki presented the proclamation to the team. The team finished its season with a record of seven wins and two losses. They also qualified to compete in the state sectional championship, for the second time in school history.

"The team also accomplished something never done in the history of the program - they won the GMC Championship, beating their rivals that won that title for 42 years in a row," Zimbicki said.

The team also broke five team records, making them "the best boys team in school history," Zimbicki said.

Two individual swimmers, and two relays qualified to compete at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, festuring the best high school swimmers in the state.

"The East Brunswick Boys Swim Team has earned itself many accomplishments over the past few years that has culminated in 2022 as out best season yet. The boys you see here today are fully committed to the sport and their school," the coach said.

"This is a group that works hard all season, every year and gives so much of their time and effort to this program."

Although the team does not have their own home pool to swim in, the team gets home fairly late after competing, but "show up the next day to do it all over again," their coach said.
