East Brunswick Racquet Club Receives National Award at US Open
EBRC recognized by USTA for Outstanding Tennis Facility

East Brunswick Racquet Club was recently awarded the distinction of Outstanding Small Private Facility by the United States Tennis Association (USTA). This award is the highest honor given by the USTA to a tennis club. East Brunswick Racquet Club was recognized from among facilities across the nation for its physical space as well as its commitment to fostering tennis in the local community.
East Brunswick Racquet Club, also known as EBRC, along with Princeton University, were the only facilities recognized from NJ this year. They were presented the award during a special ceremony at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York during the US Open.
Facilities were evaluated by criteria that considered the construction, appearance, and amenities of the tennis center along with the programming being offered to support the promotion of tennis in the community. Categories included small, large, public, private, and educational facilities.

East Brunswick Racquet Club houses seven hard courts in a climate controlled facility under the ownership of Caterina Lindqvist and Todd Doran. Lindqvist is a former title-winning WTA player and Doran, who also manages the club, led his college team to four NCAA National Tournaments.
Says Doran, "It is an honor to win such a prestigious award. We could not have done this without the support of our tennis players and local partnerships. It is rewarding to be able to continue to improve the tennis club each year and make the members' experience more enjoyable year after year.”

“Whether it is upgrading the parking lot, redoing the locker rooms, or all new HVAC systems, I think it means a lot to our tennis players to see the improvements we continue to make each year. I do not know many tennis clubs that continuously want to improve their clubs like we do at EBRC.”
Along with offering lessons and drills for all ages and abilities, EBRC hosts USTA Leagues and Tournaments for both juniors and adults. The club also presents unique programming opportunities such as social hours, matchmakers, and tennis camps.
Extending their services beyond East Brunswick, the racquet club is home to the Rutgers Women’s tennis team. Visitors can use the club’s lobby to watch Rutgers home matches and cheer on the Division I team.
The indoor space includes locker rooms and showers for men and women, a kitchen, fitness space, pro shop, and stretching studio. Over the last ten years the EBRC has made improvements to its indoor lighting, roofing, exterior, and landscaping. The club has also shown a commitment to sustainability participating in a program recycling used tennis balls and installing solar panels for energy efficiency. All of these factors were taken into consideration for their USTA recognition.
“I am excited for the next few years at EBRC,” remarked Doran. “We are already planning a few new projects! Stay tuned…”
