Fall Freecycling Day Returns to Community Arts Center, Oct. 8
Bring your usable castoffs and browse for items you can use; sign up to volunteer
Fall Freecycling Day is returning to the East Brunswick Community Arts Center on Cranbury Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8. Items for freecycling may be dropped off until 1 p.m. with browsing until 2 p.m.
A semi-annual event, Freecyling Day offers area residents an opportunity to discard usable, unwanted household items in an environmentally friendly way. After dropping off their items, they can also hunt for “finds” from small furniture and housewares to toys, books and tools.
There is no charge to participate in this “free trade” event. All items must be offered for free, for personal use and not for resale.

Items for freecycling may be dropped off at the Community Arts Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with browsing and pickup until 2 p.m. In the event of rain, check the Friends’ website for updates: friendsebec.com.
Recommended freecycling items include clothing, shoes, bicycles, fish tanks, dishes, pots and pans, toys, musical instruments, silverware, small appliances, tools, power tools, kitchen items, garage items, electronics and pet supplies. It is recommended that boxed toys, games and anything with small parts be taped shut.

Prohibited items include mattresses, televisions, computer monitors, paints, VHS tapes, computer disks, paints, pesticides, tires, toiletries, unframed mirrors, food or any hazardous materials. Large furniture pieces and heavy appliances or machinery will not be accepted.
The Friends of EBEC reserves the right to reject items.
Freecycling days are a project of the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission and co-sponsored with the East Brunswick Recycling Center and East Brunswick Recreation, Parks & Community Services.
People interested in volunteering for the day or for a few hours on Freecycling Day are asked to fill out this form, which also is found at friendsebec.com.
The Friends of EBEC is a nonprofit volunteer group dedicated to local environmental education and conservation. In addition to Freecycling Days, the Friends sponsors National Moth Week, Amphibian Protection, Community Garden, Butterfly Park, Moth Nights and Option Green lectures at the library. Membership is free.
