Heroin Found In Parking Lot Of Rt. 18 7-Eleven, Police Say

Hundreds of bags of heroin were found in two Rt. 18 traffic stops in June, East Brunswick cops say. One was in a car idling at the 7-Eleven.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Heroin continues to be found in Rt. 18 traffic stops, East Brunswick police report, as Rt. 18 through East Brunswick continues to be a drug corridor.

Hundreds of bags of heroin were found in two separate Rt. 18 traffic stops in June, East Brunswick police say. In the first, at 1:42 a.m. on June 18, police saw a car idling in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Rt. 18. The officer stopped and talked to the driver, Jameson Heptinstall, 31, of East Brunswick, who consented to a search of the car. A search of the car revealed seven hypodermic needles and 12 wax folds of suspected heroin, police said. Heptinstall was placed under arrest.

The second incident occurred two days later, at 1:30 a.m. on June 20, when police stopped a Toyota driving on Main Street for a traffic violation. The officer said he detected the odor of pot coming from the car, and searched the car. A search of the car revealed 157 bags of heroin, Adderall, oxycodone pills, a glass pipe, a marijuana grinder and cough medicine, police said. The driver, Cristian Ortiz, 22, of Woodbridge, and the passenger, Derrick Willard, 24, of Piscataway, were placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs and drug distribution.
