Man Arrested By FBI In Atlanta, Charged In Shooting Death of East Brunswick Resident
Malik Stringer from North Brunswick was arrested on Monday from Atlanta, Georgia by the FBI, authorities said.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A North Brunswick man has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the shooting death of an East Brunswick resident, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department said Wednesday.
Malik Stringer, 23, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder, and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun in the shooting death of Nathaniel Edwards, Jr., 23.
On Jan. 9, at approximately 10:18 a.m., authorities responded to the area of Remsen Avenue and Seaman Street in New Brunswick following the report of a shooting. On arrival, officers found Edwards who suffered a gunshot wound, police said. Edwards was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation by Detective Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Ryan Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office identified Stringer as the shooter, Ciccone said.
On Monday, Jan. 24, Stringer was arrested without incident in Atlanta, Georgia by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He remains in Georgia pending an extradition hearing, Ciccone said. Upon his return to New Jersey, he will be lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
