NJ Based Direct Mail Marketing Company Expands Conservation Efforts

Over twenty five hundred new trees will be planted in Shoshone National Forest this upcoming Spring thanks to the contribution of an East Brunswick-based marketing company, DK Solutions.

As a trailblazer in the targeted direct mail industry, DK Solutions is continuing its Annual Tree Planting Program with its 2023 contribution to the Budworm Response Reforest Project, located in Wyoming.

WHY A TREE PLANTING PROGRAM

Deforestation is a serious concern that has plagued many countries across the globe. Human development, natural disasters, and the high demand for timber are some of the many reasons why these natural ecosystems are threatened each year. This devastation affects everyone, as local communities, wildlife, and even entire ecosystems are affected from the absence of these ancient forests.

And the threat is only growing, as an estimated 36 football fields of trees are lost every minute throughout the world.

As a direct mail company, DK Solutions recognized how their campaigns contribute to a fraction of this demand for paper and paper products. While their TargetList methodology eliminates most of the unnecessary bulk created as part of a typical mail campaign, there is still a large need for paper when planning these nationwide campaigns.

That is why DK Solutions took the initiative to partner with One Tree Planted, a non-profit committed to replanting trees throughout some of the world’s most at-risk areas. This organization raises funds for conservation endeavors throughout the year, spanning across seven continents. In 2022 alone, their organization planted over 52.7 million trees, for a grand total of 92.7 million trees planted across the globe since 2014.

THIS YEAR’S CONTRIBUTION

To determine 2023’s contribution, DK Solutions calculated the number of trees their marketing mailers used throughout the past year. This calculation is then tripled to establish a net-positive impact on the environment, rather than merely replacing last year’s trees.

Co-Founder and CEO Joel Dickstein said, “Here at DK Solutions using paper in our everyday direct mail campaigns, we wanted to give back to the environment.”

He continued, “So our partnership with One Tree Planted was the perfect fit. In planting three trees for every one we use; we are proud to be part of such a great cause.”

These infant trees will be planted in Shoshone National Forest as part of the Budworm Response Reforestation Project. As America’s first national forest, located near Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, the Shoshone project will break ground early this spring and reach completion in early summer. Several species of native trees will take root in this location to help preserve natural wildlife and strengthen the local biodiversity.

And by planting in a national forest, these trees will be federally protected and free to grow without the risk of being cut down in the future.

Co-Founder and COO Liran Kapoano said, “Whenever we get involved with conservatory it’s nice to be connected to places we’ve been. Shoshone happens to be one of the most beautiful places in the country and I enjoyed my time there when I visited a few years ago.”

LAST YEAR’S CONTRIBUTION

In 2022, DK Solutions participated in the Flathead National Forest Project to launch their first tree planting program initiative. Located in Montana, this project resulted in over 46,500 trees planted by volunteers, including native tree species like Ponderosa Pine, Western Larch, and Western White Pine.

From Swan Lake Ranger District to the Griffin Creek Area of the Tally Lake District, 186 hectares of land now prospers with newly formed growth. One Tree Planted will also continue monitoring the land to report any improvements for conservation records.

OTHER SUSTAINABLE STEPS

Besides their annual tree planting program, DK Solutions also takes active steps in their day-to-day business operations to upkeep their sustainability efforts throughout the year.
