North Brunswick Man Owes $48,000 In E-Z Pass Tolls, Port Authority Says

This North Brunswick man was stopped Thursday at the Holland Tunnel, and it turned out he owed nearly $50K in EZ Pass tolls, police said.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A North Brunswick man was stopped Thursday morning trying to drive through the Holland Tunnel, and it turned out he owed nearly $50,000 in unpaid EZ Pass tolls and fees, according to Port Authority police. His car is known to Port Authority police as a repeat EZ Pass violator, they said.

Port Authority police stopped the 2014 Honda CRV at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday on 12th Street in Jersey City at the Holland Tunnel Toll Plaza. The suspect drove through a marked EZ-Pass-only lane without paying a toll, police said.

Cops pulled the Honda over and its driver, Steven S. Salmon, 37, of North Brunswick, could not produce an EZ Pass. EZ Pass records showed that by the end of this June, Salmon was responsible for 756 violations, totaling $48,578 in tolls and fees. He started racking up violations in February of 2014, and it continued through June of this year, said Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
