Saswati Chakraborty Shines the Light on The Longest Day
Senior living community joins Global Team, International Council on Active Aging in raising awareness and funds in fight to end Alzheimer's
The Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ), the leading volunteer-driven health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research, is highlighting inspiring stories and contributions from people making a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
With more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, and more than 11 million family and friends providing care and support for them, individuals across the country are seeking ways to assist those afflicted with the disease. In New Jersey alone, there are more than 190,000 people living with the Alzheimer’s and 361,000 caregivers. On June 21, many of them will be participating in The Longest Day (TLD). The event is held annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and is a day to raise awareness and funds to help end the disease.
Today we say thank you to Saswati Chakraborty, an Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter Board Member and Case Manager at Springpoint’s Monroe Village and Village Point Rehabilitation & Healthcare – who as a member of Global Team, International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), is dedicated to helping the ICAA raise $50,000 or more, annually, to support the The Longest Day. The ICAA is dedicated to changing the way we age by uniting professionals in the retirement, assisted living, fitness, rehabilitation and wellness fields to dispel society's myths about aging. Saswati recently spearheaded a community health and wellness fair at Monroe Village. Vendors were asked to donate to The Longest Day in place of a tabling fee. Staff attended to share resources available to families affected by dementia.
